St. Timothy's Episcopal Church

In late 2007, we received word that St. Timothy's was the beneficiary of a substantial bequest from a former parishioner, Miss Marguerite Barker.  Miss Barker had attended St. Timothy's as a child but had lived away from Iola for several decades.  Through her generousity, the parishioners of St. Timothy's were able to do a complete renovation of the church.  Members of the congregation began work the Sunday after Easter 2008 by removing the old carpet, removing the pews to storage, performing demolition of the plaster and lathe walls, and repainting the altar and reredos.  Over the next several months, professional contractors installed new drywall, new carpet, new electrical service, and painted the interior.  From April to August, services were conducted in the parish hall.  Vintage lighting fixtures, a vintage pulpit, and a vintage tabernacle were purchased from restoration salvage dealers. 

We moved into the newly restored church in August 2008.  The following are some photos of the renovation project and the results.
